I get asked all of the time, “Don’t you run out of things to do on a small island?” and I have to say that we are probably busier now than we ever were in the states.  Obviously there are weeks that are busier than others and this week is one of those.  The highlight comes on Wednesday when my sister Elizabeth arrives for a ten day visit. This will be her first time in Belize and I am super excited. But until she arrives, we have an action packed schedule.

It kicked off yesterday with a private deck party and concert by Kelly McGuire.  From Kelly’s website Red Fish Island:

“Kelly made a living at music for 15 years before starting to write songs. Now 5 CDs later with songwriting awards, an Album of the Year award from the Texas Music Awards as well as nominations for Entertainer of the Year & Producer of the Year- he is living a dream!

He currently resides in the Clear Lake/NASA area of Houston near Galveston Bay and many of his songs reflect the Gulf, Boats, Islands, Sailing, Beaches, Buffett , Belize and his years as a yacht broker. There are also fan favorites about Life , Love, Guitars, Daughters & Mom & Dad!”

I became familiar with his music on our first trip to Belize and have been a fan ever since. So I was thrilled to be invited to this wonderful afternoon by our friend Karoline Huettl and her husband Kurt at their lovely home south (way south) of San Pedro. The setting could not have been lovelier and the day was sunny and clear. You could see for miles up and down the beach from the breezy palapa at the end of their pier. This was the second annual deck concert at their home and it kicks off Kelly’s birthday celebration in Belize.

If you like Jimmy Buffett, you will love Kelly McGuire and his Trop Rockin island vibe.  Thanks again Kurt and Karoline for a great party and a wonderful afternoon!
